Across the Parish we have deliberately set out to offer a wide variety of
styles of Service to suit everyone's needs. This also means you can try
another style or time if your circumstances change, and yet remain within
our church family.
To ease newcomers, the leadership will guide each congregation
through the service. We hope this will help avoid the discomfort of not
knowing what to do, and make you feel at home.
Timetable of Services
Changes and special events are announced in the weekly Fellowship News

to the day.
Style of Services
St Barnabas is a modern-language service 'by the book'
with well-known hymns and a few more modern songs. While generally
appealing to adults, the setting is geared to smaller numbers and is
friendly, but not 'pushy'. Coffee is served after each morning service.
St Helens is more experimental, with an order of service
that varies considerably depending on the theme. There is often a fairly
full church with all ages represented. Worship is led by a band in a modern
style and using mostly recent songs.
Words for songs and prayers are displayed on overhead screens using
video/dvd projection and multimedia.
On most Sunday mornings we begin together. After a while, younger members
go to a group suitable to their age (see Youth). Coffee
is served in the hall next door after the end of the service (about
12.00pm). On major festivals and in most school holidays, the morning
service is All-Age, and lasts about 50 minutes (or slightly longer if it is
a Communion). These services are more relaxed, with puppet shows,
involvement in movement, etc.
About 40 of our members take part in preaching or leading, many more in
reading lessons and leading prayers. This does not include all those who
are involved in creche, children's and youth work, housegroups, and the
pastoral care of our community.
There are very few who simply attend, though you can do that if you want
to!
This is a loving Parish designed for the complexity of modern life.
We hope you feel able to join us for worship. We would be delighted to
meet you or hear from you if we can support you in any way.
But above all we trust we can help in your discovery of the living God,
who loves you so much and has come among us in Jesus Christ.
May all the glory go to him!
